Love blue and deep blue for little boys. I love to photograph girls as they are always fun! However, boys, I love how simple and sweet their photos always turn out to be. Just their sweet faces and soft, creamy skin!

There is no getting around this! Newborn babies cry! This is how they communicate to us. What’s funny is, when you become a mother, you will automatically know what to do and why your baby is crying. You can read the cries. You can tell if your baby is hungry, tired or wants to be held. You just know.
Here are a few reasons why your newborn will cry:
- They are hungry
- They are hot or cold
- They need to burp
- They have gas
- They are tired
- They need to have their diaper changed
- They want to be held
- Something is bothering them or hurting them you can’t see
You simply know when your baby is hungry. Sometimes, newborns will cluster feed. Generally babies will eat every 2 to 3 hours. When they cluster feed, the feedings are closer together, maybe every hour at certain times of the day.
Newborns like to be bundled up and kept nice and warm – but not HOT. You can tell my the temperature of their skin. They really only need an extra layer then we do, a onesie under an outfit is just fine. You can tell if baby is too hot by the color of their skin (if they are red) or if they are sweating.
Some babies need to burp, if baby is just not happy after they eat, they could have reflux or simply need to burp. Babies can swallow air when they feed from nursing or a bottle. You will start to be able to tell if your baby is one who will need to burp or work it out on their own.
Babies will get gassy!! If you, Mom are eating foods that make adults gassy, it will certainly make a baby gassy. The foods you eat can have an affect on your baby. Some people will use over the counter gas drops, these didn’t do much for my kids but some they help. Gripe water is another one you can try with your baby to see if it helps them. You can find them at any drug store in the pharmacy section. You can also lay baby on their back and do bicycle movements with their legs to help work out any bubbles.
Some babies tend to fight sleep, you think it would be easy and for some it is, they can sleep anywhere. My oldest was never like that. She will still to this day fight sleep. Some babies can get over stimulated and over tired and just have a hard time going to sleep. Going into a quite room to bounce and shhhhhhshhhh them to sleep may be helpful.
Some babies don’t mind if they have a wet or dirty diaper, while some will not mind one over the other or simply not be able to stand either. This is an easy fix, most diapers have a yellow stripe down the front of the diaper, when it’s blue…well, guess what, it needs changed!
Babies like to be cuddled and close to you. They were in the womb not long ago and like to be close to you and cuddled up to you. They want to hear your voice, your heartbeat, smell you and see your face. Crying simply is a way to say I want to be close to you. You can’t spoil your baby, they need to bond. You can make changes down the road and set the boundaries, but a newborn baby and young baby needs you, you are their life support.
Sometimes when you have tried everything else, it could be a piece of thread around their little toe or finger inside a sleeper. Make sure to check their clothing and diaper. Maybe the diaper tag is poking them or their skin is caught on something or something is to tight on them.
Remember, the way babies ‘talk’ to you is by crying – that’s all they know. In my sessions, I can calm a crying baby pretty quickly.
Meet sweet baby Paisley! I made this beautiful wreath for her Newborn Session. I loved the purples and gray tones. She was so perfect for one of my wreaths. I love the textures and colors!

Hello Baby Toes!! Who doesn’t love little baby toes?!?
This little girl’s parents are simply ‘over the moon’ for their new baby and with cute little toes like this, you can understand why. Witnessing the loving connection between new parents and their new babies is one of the many delightful benefits of being an Omaha newborn photographer. It was inspiring to see the love that this little cuties parents had for their newest addition, ‘head over heels’ would be an understatement. It was a real pleasure to work with them! When her parents brought this sweet little cutie in for her newborn session, this Omaha Photographer might have had a better time than they did. Omaha newborn photographers (like me!) love to work with glorious, beautiful newborns like this.
I’d like to ensure that you capture your newborn in the best phase for newborn photography, so it’s helpful to assure you’ve arranged your appointment before your new gem is born, that way your session is guaranteed. I never tire of working with families like this, families who really understand the importance of committing these first few days of their child’s life to posterity. It’s my honor as a professional newborn photographer in Omaha to have that responsibility entrusted to me. Of the many photographers in Omaha, Nebraska, I feel certain that I’m the most blessed. Some might call it, ‘Newborn photography, Omaha style’!
Remember…time is fleeting, make sure you capture the moment.
Sweet Isabella. Little Isabella was such a sweetheart and such a joy to photograph! Isabella’s family will have a wonderful portrait story to tell of the glorious arrival of their beautiful baby girl. As an Omaha Photographer, I know I can’t wait to watch her grow. I look forward to seeing her in the studio as she gets bigger! Baby programs are a great way to document your beloved’s first year (or years!). The time passes so quickly, it’ll be gone before you know it and you want to make sure you have it well recorded so you can look back and share stories. As an Omaha, Ne, newborn photographer, many of my ‘program’ babies are photographed during (up to) 5 sessions, beginning with a complimentary maternity session (still in mommy). After the maternity session we make plans for the all-important omaha newborn photography session. The newborn session is certainly the one that is the ‘climax’ of the sessions (as well as the most creative, your new loved one will never be as ‘curly’ and flexible as he or she is as a newborn). After the newborn session, we’ll usually photograph the beautiful little ones around the 4, 8 and 12 months points, depending on your preference and your baby’s progress. If you’re expecting to have a newborn baby soon, or if you’ve not taken any family photographs in a while (I’m a Omaha, NE family photographer as well!) please give me a call at 402.916.9300. While there are a variety of different Omaha photographers that you could call, I don’t believe you’ll find anyone who enjoys working with you and your family as much as I do. You don’t get this time back and there are no do overs.
Remember…time, once lost, can never be had back.
I love this family!! They also know the value of family portraits. What a privilege it was to work with mommy, daddy and the two ‘little’ babies again! They all came in for a family portrait session and what a great time this Omaha Photographer had. As I’ve mentioned in the past, it’s a real joy to begin with newborn photos (or even maternity shots!) and progress through the life of a young child (and young family), having the opportunity to document their wonderful little lives, every family portrait is a treasure. They’re so easy (ie; photogenic) family to photograph, it makes my job as a family photographer so easy. Watching both Mom and Dad fawn over their wonderful kids is a joy, they’re obviously both head over heels for their kids. It’s so much fun to witness all the wonderful mother/child and daddy/child relationships that I go on during family portrait shoots. It’s also fun to have long time clients who ‘know’ my style, yet are always willing to bring new photography ideas to the session to ask and see how something might work. Most of all, it’s great working with families like the this who truly understand the importance of committing these fleeting, tender years to a professional family photographer. To assure that you capture your family during this magical time, feel free to contact me any time to set up your family photography session, you won’t be disappointed! Remember…time is fleeting, make sure you capture the moment… It’s probably time for a family portrait.
Looking for Newborn Photography in Omaha, look no more!! Here’s little Jaxon, such a cutie pie!! I had a great time with this handsome little Jaxon. He, as you can tell, is quite comfortable in front of the camera! I (as well as all Omaha photographers) love to photograph great subjects like Jaxon, especially when they’re soooo easy to work with. As an Omaha photographer and working in Newborn Photography Omaha, I so enjoy the opportunity to work with beautiful little ones like this. Both Mom and Dad are so proud of their wonderful new little treasured boy. He was the perfect subject, allowing himself to be put into a ton of great poses. What fun we had wrapping him up in different fabrics (not to mention fun hats), looking for the ‘perfect shot’. Seizing these moments quarterly during the first year (or at least, bi-annually!) is an investment you won’t regret as your child grows. I look forward to working with Jaxon and his parents for years to come, from newborn photography on through her annual family photography and then on through senior pictures (that’ll be bittersweet)! I have a whole selection of packages available for newborn, infant, child and families that help take the monetary sting out of capturing these moments, leaving you with only precious memories of your child’s formative years. As an Omaha photographer, capturing these images is honor and a blessing. It’s Newborn photography Omaha style!
