Tips for your newborn portrait session
Brandy Miller photography is an Omaha Photographer. She photographs newborns between 6-14 days old. All Sessions are held in our studio where we can control the climate and have access to our large variety of props. We provide all of phone spy the props for your session. The session is designed based on what ‘you’ want. Your Omaha Newborn Photography Session will last roughly 2 hours. In order to get the poses we all love, baby MUST be sleeping the entire time of the session. As a professional Omaha Photographer we give mom homework on keeping baby up at least 2 hours before the session. While I know this sounds like pure torture to an already sleep deprived new mom, it is vital to our session and you will be more than happy with the outcome. I often here mom’s say “ But newborns sleep a lot so I don’t need to keep them up that much.” My reply, “you are correct, they do sleep a lot, however, trust me, you are commissioning me to photograph your baby and you came to me because you like my work, I have photographed lots and lots of babies and this is what must happen, you will be very pleased in the end, when you see the beautiful images as a result of your hard work.” If baby is awake they simply will not hold a position, we will waste more time trying to get them to sleep to get a few good shots when we could spend the entire time getting pose after pose. We would much rather give you more set up options of images to choose from. Baby should have a very full belly right before you leave for the studio. If you live more than half an hour away, it is best to feed baby when you arrive at the studio. We want baby in that ‘milk drunk’ state. Babies like to suck, if you could bring along a pacifier that will help to soothe baby back into a position if we need to. Make sure to bring along an extra change of clothes for baby and you (if you are doing a family portrait-just in case baby has an accident) Finally, sit back and relax, take a nap, write out thank you’s. I will take care of everything else!
